Dr. Erika Kalkan is a physical therapist based in New York who specializes in dance-related injuries. She holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Temple University and is a board-certified orthopedic specialist. Dr. Kalkan is on staff at the world-renowned Harkness Center for Dance Injuries and has worked backstage at numerous Broadway productions as well as provided on-site physical therapy for many prestigious dance companies.
Prior to pursuing a career in physical therapy, Dr. Kalkan was a professional modern dancer and brings twenty years of dance experience and training to her own practice, providing a deep understanding of the demands and challenges facing a performing professional.
In her practice, Dr. Kalkan strives both to heal her patients and to provide them with the tools they need to care for their bodies preventively. She understands that for many of her patients, their careers depend on their bodies’ ability to perform at a high level, and her attention to detail and hands-on approach reflect that.
